JOB
DESCRIPTION - EDUCATION CHAIRMAN
30-Nov-03
1. Schedule two sets of lessons each year; one beginner/brushup held in the Fall, one intermediate held in the winter (usually in January). The lessons include lectures, lesson booklet and actual play of hands.
2. Arrange for advance free publicity, utilizing the Courier Journal Tipsheet (especially), Neighborhoods Section, Happenings Section and any other form available. List your phone number in the ads and return calls to people calling to sign up (examples of prior correspondence are attached).
3. Select teacher/teachers & work with them to select appropriate dates and starting times.
4. Make copies of the lesson booklet and hand records at Kinko’s Copies (Shelbyville Rd. in old Sears Building). The LBA has an account there.
5. Arrange for two board members (at least) to be at each lesson to assist the teacher. Follow up with them before their assigned night. The assistants should plan to be at the lesson from 6:30-7:45 so they can help start the student game (help them fill out convention cards and get situated).
6. On the first night, be at the center at 5:30 to welcome students and collect the $25 fee for the lessons. Turn all monies over to the LBA Treasurer.
7.
Additional copies of the lesson booklet are $5.
