JOB DESCRIPTION –

VICE-PRESIDENT/LBA TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN

1.               Work with Secretary to schedule sectional tournament dates. Allowing 24-month lead time, check hotel availability. Present proposed dates at earliest possible Board Meeting, determine events to be held, starting times and entry fees. Function as Tournament Chairman for all sectionals.

 

2.               60 days in advance, arrange with hotel to reserve hospitality suite for weekend of tournament, beginning Friday night.  Sign contract with hotel/motel and give copies to treasurer and secretary.

 

3.               Make reservations for incoming Tournament Directors (info will be provided by ACBL).

 

4.               Order 60 tables (Taylor Rental) to be delivered day before tournament starts; have hotel set up in playing area.  60 days in advance, arrange with Hotel the how to set up playing room.

 

5.               Arrange with hotel or caterer for food concession on Sunday. Have open from 1-6. Request waiter or have a special caddie to come to playing area to take orders for coffee and cokes for tips.

 

6.               Call Hotel the week before tourney to make sure all OK, and then Thursday before tourney to make sure tables are set up in playing area.

 

7.               Ensure proper arrangements are made for annual election night free game at the club.

 

8.               Arrange for director for Election Night Game. The LBA secretary will handle any sanction requirement.

 

9.               Assist Hospitality Chairman as required.

 

10.           Appoint a Caddy Chairman for all tournaments (Barren River Chair appoints caddies at Barren River tourneys) with the following guidelines:

                        Friday Game                1 Caddy in afternoon and 2 at night.     

                        Saturday Games           3 Caddies

                        Sunday Games             4 Caddies        

                        Election Game              1 Caddy          

            Caddies get $20 per session. (No meal ticket except Sunday at Barren River).

 

11.              Arrange for ad to be placed in Midwest Monitor.  (Midwest Monitor is published in quarterly in Jan – Apr – July & Oct) Ensure ad is correct, with all pertinent information included.

 

12.              Conduct board meetings in the absence of the President. 

 

13.             Prepare an annual report for inclusion in the Kibitzer defining upcoming tournament activity for Unit 117.
